WHY????

Tis the season to ask "WHY?"

Things I am asking "Why?" about recently...in a slightly-venting-but-not-really-mostly- joking-cus-i-feel-like-joking-way:

1. What's wrong with Thanksgiving?  Must we start the commercialization of Christmas soooooo soooooo early each year?  Goodness, before we know it, we'll be preparing for Christmas at Easter!  Christmas commercialization crap all year round...yippee!!

2. Why do people find it ok to keep people on either side of them stopped up on a PUBLIC walking trail....just so they can take 239840293849302934 pictures of a *gasp* Blue HERON on the bridge??

3.  Blue Heron's are cool but ...are they *that* cool?

4. Why is it that no one except for John Codispoti seems to have gotten down the recipe for the perfect cheesecake?  HUGELY THICK.  DENSE....like a BRICK.  DELICIOUS.  Thankful to know John Codispoti...for many reasons. ;)
me eating said goodness...

5. Why do r's....ok I'll say it...the name which we do not speak (*shudder*) so you know what I'm talking about...Why do ROACHES exist?
5a.What good are they?  They are creatures of the dark and when you go to kill them, they crunch.  I cannot and will not kill a crunchy "R" because the experience sends me into such shudders and quivers and nightmares....I simply have to wait until my husband is around to exterminate.
5b. Why does he have to use my shoe to do so?
sick out.

6. Why do I find it necessary to make serious comments in response to my husbands jokes...when I KNOW they are jokes?
6a. What happened to laughing?
6b. His jokes are funny....right??  ;)
So, when he pretends to lick his plate...thats funny, no?

7. Why won't my son sleep a full 2 hours for a nap anymore and why did he feel the need to start making 6am his habitual morning wake up time?
7a. Does this look like a face ready to face the morning??

I didn't think so....

8. Why did I ever think this was a cool bowling outfit?
8a. Or a cool outfit at all?
8b. Or even an outfit?
8c. Does awesome form count?

9. Why haven't we discovered this rainbow crack the size of hailstones before now?

10.  Why do I give into fear so often?

11. Why doesn't anyone but me seem to love these little friends as much as I do???

12. Why is this picture so funny?
12a.  Actually, I have the answer to this one....BECAUSE IT JUST IS!!!

13.  If you actually read through all my "why's?".....well....Why did you?? ;)

Tired As A Mother

Almost asleep. *baby cries*  Nurse 20 min sleep.  *baby cries* Nurse Repeat. All through the night. 3 days in a row. Teething.  I'm tired.  However, I'm not just tired physically.  It seems like all of the health-nut people are making/raving about all these delicious looking "health bombs" or "fat bombs" or "tastes-like-grass-but-it-looks-good bombs."  Bombs, that when a bite is taken from one, the result is an explosion of healthy nutrients in your mouth.    ***see pictures below***   Yeah.  Well, if I were a bomb, I'd be a tired  bomb.  My tired bomb consists of a dangerous mix of no energy, no motivation, anger that I'm tired, anger for no reason, dysfunctional fog brain,  tears about everything, but mostly tears because I'm tired, where just about anything  could set it (me) off. Biting into my tired bomb is ugly. Unhealthy.  I dread the Sarah who doesn't get sleep. I regre...

I'M UGLY...BUT IT'S A BEAUTIFUL THING

I'm ugly....but it's a beautiful thing. :) Disclaimer 1: this is going to be raw.  Personal. Just warning you. Disclaimer 2: If you see a bunch of quotes or pictures from FLYLEAF lyrics, it's because for the last few months, I've been listening to them on my runs.  God has used a handful of the lyrics to really spur me on in digging deeper into my own heart.  No, they aren't super theologically deep, but I'm thankful for the thought their lyrics have provoked... Let me give you a few snippets of my background to flesh out the picture a bit. Most of my life, I have been one of two extremes: 1. Highly praised and favored or 2. Highly assumed, backstabbed or just...the recipient of mean . For number 1, the main things I have heard over and again:  "You're so encouraging, the most humble person I've met, sweet, kind, beautiful, fun..." ... For number 2, I won't go into details, but let's just say my trusting vulnerable hear...

The Endless Quest for Unity

Definition of unity: 1a : the quality or state of not being multiple : oneness I have often struggled with the word “unity,” but I have been confronted with it over and again lately.   A few examples:  -Looking for it in the middle of a conflict with my spouse -Hearing it touted as the goal for America by government leaders -In issues of racism, unity is the cry of many.  -The church is called to be unified over and again in scripture I have struggled with the word unity as it just seems like this unattainable mountain when I look at it with my human eyes.  I think, because I want to “feel” something before I can be unified with something.  I want to make something happen, ultimately, justice, before considering unity.  I need to know that I can trust the person who is calling me to be unified in the area, or with person xyz.   Funny how you can know the truth for so long, but then one day, your “knowing” hits you in the face as ...
