Current Favorite Finds

I recently read a blogpost a friend wrote, and she was listing some of her current favorite things (if you are reading this, you know who you are, hi and thanks).  I decided to take a rather large step away from my typical flavor of blogposts and do something similar.  I mean, if you find good things, it's nice to share the goodness with others, right?

Ok.  So in completely random order:

1.  AppleWorks Dutch Apple Pie:

I know this is a local place, but hopefully some of you readers are local.  Joshua and I waited THREE years to finally bite the bullet and buy a mini of these, and let me tell you, it was worth the wait!  I would post a picture of said pie, but obviously it has been completely hidden away in our guts by now.  So, I leave you with a memory made with markers.  Don't be fooled by my amazing artwork, it tasted SO much better than it looks.

2.  Trina Turk for Bluesky Planner:

So, I am a planner, who likes  loves  needs organization in my life.  I also like things written down the old fashioned way.  This monthly/weekly planner has been the perfect size and layout for me and all my organizational needs, and I *think* it is still available at Target.

3.  Thistle Bouquet:

Ok, this is a local find as well, but I just had to post it as I have been really enjoying looking at these the last few weeks.  I bought them from a brand new local flower shop (Queen Anne's Farmhouse) that just happens to be in the same building as my favorite local coffee shop (Brickhouse Coffee) and these thistles came in a bouquet with some other flowers.  I dried the thistles and put them in the only bud vase I could find in our house and placed them where I can see them daily.  Locals, check out their shop!

4.  COCOKIND COLLECTIVE Mai-Light Highlighter Stick:

Ok, I haven't honestly been into the whole highlighting/contour, um, "thing," but...this find has been fun!  It isn't that expensive, it's super clean as far as ingredients (good for your skin!) and gives you a great natural "glow" wherever you want it.  Just a fun vanity post here, folks!

5.  Foamtreads:

These slippers I chanced upon whilst browsing the 6pm.com website for a cheap pair of slippers to warm my ever freezing feet.  They are not cheap slippers.  However. These slippers (originally $70 something bucks) were $13 on sale!  They are hands down the most quality and comfortable (and cute I think) slippers I've ever had! Go get yourself some!

6.  Siete Grain Free Tortilla chips:

Our family tries to generally avoid grains when we can.  However, we miss tortilla chips!! I found these grain free ones made with avocado oil, cassava flour and coconut flour, and they are a super tasty alternative!! They are currently going great with my beef veggie soup (hit me up for the recipe!) on this gloomy rainy day.

7.  Streetlights:

This app on my phone has been great for having scripture play in the background while I am preparing food for the kids or driving, etc.  It is done by some great people, and the beats in the background don't hurt either.  Go and doo da download thing!

7.  Buried Treasure ACF Immune Support:

Ok, I will swear by this.  Last year I used it through the sick seasons and it really seemed to prevent my kids from getting alllll the bugs going around.  Literally every time I stopped using it, bam, a kid would come down with something.  It also seemed to speed up the recovery process if I gave it to them while they were sick.  Pictured below is the adult version, but there is also one for kids.  Pulling it out now as it seems sick season is starting early this year.  I will say, the taste is difficult, so I have to "cover it up" with juice for my kids.

8.  Primal Pit Paste:

This natural deodorant has been a lifesaver for me the past few years.  Every. Single. Natural deodorant I'd tried before this, made me STINK.  With Primal Pit, I have had pleasantly odorless and dry pits (with the effect lasting a full day with just one application)!
Also with this paste, the name of it makes me want to say "PRIIIImal PItttt!!" in a super deep guttural voice.  Why? Dunno.  I'll just take it as an added bonus to stink free pits.

There ya have it. A few of my current favorite things.  Hopefully there is something you saw that you might find benefit in as well!

Tired As A Mother

Almost asleep. *baby cries*  Nurse 20 min sleep.  *baby cries* Nurse Repeat. All through the night. 3 days in a row. Teething.  I'm tired.  However, I'm not just tired physically.  It seems like all of the health-nut people are making/raving about all these delicious looking "health bombs" or "fat bombs" or "tastes-like-grass-but-it-looks-good bombs."  Bombs, that when a bite is taken from one, the result is an explosion of healthy nutrients in your mouth.    ***see pictures below***   Yeah.  Well, if I were a bomb, I'd be a tired  bomb.  My tired bomb consists of a dangerous mix of no energy, no motivation, anger that I'm tired, anger for no reason, dysfunctional fog brain,  tears about everything, but mostly tears because I'm tired, where just about anything  could set it (me) off. Biting into my tired bomb is ugly. Unhealthy.  I dread the Sarah who doesn't get sleep. I regre...

The Endless Quest for Unity

Definition of unity: 1a : the quality or state of not being multiple : oneness I have often struggled with the word “unity,” but I have been confronted with it over and again lately.   A few examples:  -Looking for it in the middle of a conflict with my spouse -Hearing it touted as the goal for America by government leaders -In issues of racism, unity is the cry of many.  -The church is called to be unified over and again in scripture I have struggled with the word unity as it just seems like this unattainable mountain when I look at it with my human eyes.  I think, because I want to “feel” something before I can be unified with something.  I want to make something happen, ultimately, justice, before considering unity.  I need to know that I can trust the person who is calling me to be unified in the area, or with person xyz.   Funny how you can know the truth for so long, but then one day, your “knowing” hits you in the face as ...

Ten Years

Ten years.  Marriage does not always look like belly-laughs and crinkled smile eyes. In fact, in all honesty, if there were a picture for every emotion we have encountered together, I know that the tears would be a thicker stack of photos than the laughs.   Why might I start a “happy anniversary” post with such a seemingly gloomy comment?  Well, because there is beauty in the tears. There are promises that are present that carry both amazing comfort and joy.  Promises that are rooted in God’s faithfulness and plans for his people.   See, there is no security or joy in trying our best to muster up some feelings of love and doing all that is in our power to “just keep swimming, just keep swimming…” Being a Dory might work when you’re trying to find your lost parents, but in the case of marriage, it will lead to fatigue, anger, bitterness, despair and hurt.  Why? Because our own efforts of love are weak at best. They are often tied to selfish motivat...
